Expos fans all knew the writing was on the wall in 2001 and when MLB hired Minaya prior to the 2002 season, he knew it, too. He wanted the team to go out with a bang for the die hard fans to appreciate, and he was the first Expos GM since Dan Duquette left in the mid 90s who actually tried to make the Expos competitive in the short term. The day this trade was announced, I honestly can't remember a time I was ever more excited to be an Expos fan. I went to almost every game Colon started in Montreal, and he did not disapoint. There is no way that this trade would have ever been made if Minaya was worrying about the team's future in D.C.

Also, the fact that the NATS finish in last place every single year, and are drawing poor crowds in their brand new stadium, never ceases to please me. And as calious as it sounds, I was happy to see Strasburg get hurt. If he never pitches another game for the Nats, that would be the icing on the cake. THE CURSE LIVES ON.1233https://www.blogger.com/profile/07627079195174249859noreply@blogger.com
