NFL Week 4 Review

Week 4 Awards

Wow You Guys Suck: The Dolphins, are terrible. Now imagine Stephen A yelling Slava Medvadenko or Rasho Nesterovic thats how bad they are. They couldn't score against the friggin Texans who have been getting torched weekly in the air. Runners Up: Raiders 0-4 and not looking like they will ever be better, Lions stupid close to being 4-0 yet 0-4

Cough Cough Cough: Kurt Warner, congrats Kurt for the second time in your career who have warmed the QB spot for a minimum amount of games while the high draft pick soaks up the play book, yet you suck so bad that the coach gets impatient and thrusts the QB into a situation where he will surely fail. Good job Kurt, how the hell are you an NFL MVP, revoked.Runners Up: Matt Hasselbeck threw away the game in the 1st half, Pick a Niner any Niner

This Scaircrow Needs a Brain: Nick Saban, Um Nick, a halfback option on a 2 point conversion? Really, you trust Ronny Brown to throw a pass to tie the game more than Culpepper, wow that says a lot about your QB, warm up Joey. Runner Up: Albert Haynsworth who apperntly has a hollow head, Art Shell's inability to hold a 21-3 lead.

The Shocker: New England Patriots, if you watched any pregame show last week you would have thought the Patriots had zero chance to win this game but to seem them dominate the Bengals and silence all the critics was surprising, the Jets would have been a true shocker though. Runners Up: Bills knocking off the overrated Vikings, Bears beatdown of the Hawks

The Pimp: Santana Moss, 3 tds on 4 catches including a walkoff td in overtime is a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Runners Up: Peyton F'n Manning I hate you, Steve McNair leading a game winning td drive against the Superchargers.

You Got JAKKED UP: Reche Caldwell, Hey the Bengals secondary took a message from how teir receivers were getting crushed in past weeks and put a licken on Reche. Back to back to back Cincinatti influence on the JAKKED Up list.

My Fantasy MVP: The Packers, up 11 going into the monday night game facing a team with Ahman, Jennings and Favre, they failed to put up enough points thanks to Brett's 2 INTs and Ahman taking the night off.

New York Jets MVP: Offensive Line after D'Bricks quick sack / fumble give up, the Jets line did a very good job protecting Chad and even for the first time of the season creating viewable holes for their running backs.

My Picks

My Picks: 8-6
Preseason Picks: 9-5
Picks Vs. Spread: 7-7

Mediocre, what makes it worse is that out of the 5 games I picked on thursday I went 1-4, which is not good. But I did preface that by saying I didn't really see easy games to pick.

Week 3 Extra Quick Notes

~Albert Haynesworth act was straight thuggery, and he's lucky he only received a 5 game suspension. I've never even scene anything, anything like a 320 pound man with spikes on stepping on a dudes face intentionally. What an Ass.

~The NFL prides itself on its parody yet, the Browns, Raiders, Texans, Titans, Lions, & Green Bay are still the worst teams in the league.

~Randy Moss is a disappearing act, 1 catch are you kidding me?

~Frank Gore fumbled in 4 straight games (thats every game), giving me major fantasy worries.

~If anyone mentions that it was a moral victory for the Jets to lose closely to the Colts I'm going to kick them square in the nuts it was no moral victory it was a gut wrenching painful roller coaster ride defeat. I have never been so up, due to my low expectations, and have them smashed so quickly by a person who once wore the pansy color of the UT Volunteers. I hate Manning and I hate the usage of moral victories, suck it.

~I have 43 reasons in my wallet to live.

Not bad kid, I put you on my bookmarks at work as an official stop to waste time in the morning.

What do you think of the Pats going for either A - Porter or B - Randy Moss with that 1st round pick they got from Seattle?

Both headcases, but so was Corey Dillon before he got here. And damn could we use an actual receiver.

I think we are going to be fine hart. Doug Gabriel again demonstrated a continuing trend; he's big, he's strong, he has good hands, good downfield speed, can get open and understands the playbook...all good signs from a 26-year old kid who only cost you a 5th round pick. They aren’t rushing Jackson because he is not ready yet. The passing game will continue to be a work in progress for the next 6 or 8 weeks...you'll see some flashes, but it's a timing/rhythm thing, and that doesn't happen overnight, irrespective of how good the WRs are and how great Brady is.

Caldwell put his "lack of toughness" label to bed when he re-entered the game after that huge head to head hit...his stock also went up about 200 points in the eyes of his coach and his teammates, and that will pay dividends in the latter parts of this season...Watson and Graham both missed one catch each, but were productive. Ben had a couple of nice plays and Dan was killing people on the line of scrimmage, as usual. He also added the last TD of the game, wide open, on a quick out.

The o-line was also dominant. They ran at will and wherever they wanted to. Dillon was a horse, getting his 4 yards and a cloud of dust and wearing out the defense, and Maroney is just special - already. He's the most electric player on the field whenever he steps out there. He has breakaway speed, excellent vision, excellent balance, good hands and much more power than people think. Provided he stays healthy, he will top 1000 yards this season (maybe more like 1200) and that's with splitting the carries roughly 50-50 with Dillon. They both get along great. Maroney is going to get stacked up a little once in a while, as did Barry Sanders, but he'll generate enough of those electric, 25-yard TD runs that they won't show up in the boxscore or be of any consequence...it's not that he's dancing, just that he's trying to set the defense up and is looking for the homerun on every touch. That's a steal for the 21st pick.

The Defense was able to make corrections to the things that they did poorly against Denver...they held the Bengals to 2-11 on third down conversions, which is huge. They kept the receivers in front of our coverage and limited their big plays. Chad Johnson had 6 catches for 64 yards and NO TDS...I'll take that every time...the defense forced them into obvious passing situations and then the front line was able to generate enough pressure to disrupt and eventually conquer their passing game. They played almost exclusively with 4 men upfront (which you'll see more of against passing teams), which allows for a little bit more up-field pressure from the linemen, as opposed to gap control responsibilities they'd have in a 3-man front (which you'll see more against running teams).

You watch, Belichek is going to prove everyone wrong again. The media has no idea how to call it and I like flying below the radar with an easy schedule. I’m sure Belichek has scouts out there already looking at the potential for next year and if they tell him that we need one of those guys, then I’m sure he’ll do it.

Are you going to be by the house Friday Hart?

Jeff -

Yeah, I agree that the pats are going to be a force. I've just been itching to see what Brady could do with one of those 6'5 guys that runs a 4.40 40. He's never really had one. Branch was getting there but he was still too short.

We definately have strong prospects, and I loved the way we manhandled Cincy. I'd just feel better with at least 1 veteran receiver in the lineup. Troy Brown doesn't count as I think he's not quite what he used to be.

And yeah, I'll definately be checking in Friday. Daniels, Grutt, Smith, and maybe Simone himself are all headed up early in the afternoon and I've taken a half day of work in their honor.

I doubt you could get Randy Moss for just that 1st round pick, cause Al Davis is a moron and Porter isn't worth it. Be patient, I think Gabriel as well as the rookie Jackson will emerge late season as a more than acceptable receiver core.

Either way I think what the Pats need most is homefield advantage in the playoffs, I think if they get that they get to the Superbowl. Right now they want to avoid playing Denver cause the Broncos have their number.

They will kill the Colts in the playoffs especially at home because the Colts can not stop the run and that really has become the Patriots strongsuit this season. Watching the Jet Colt game this weekend after the Jets hiccup of the 1st quarter they moved the ball at will on the Colts defense.

All in all the Pats are in good shape, especially with the easy schedule this season and going after Moss or Porter really isn't worth their time.

Lou Holtz is the Homer / Annoyingly Delusional

As my buddy Joe and I always joke, if Notre Dame was suiting up against an all Jesus team, aka a team made up of 55 Sons of God, Lou Holtz would probably still pick Notre Dame to win by a touchdown. So of course this weekend when I'm watching Sportscenter and they have him and fellow old man Corso making predictions, Lou picks ND to beat Michigan. Not that big of a deal, Michigan is a big question mark this year, but of course than Lou says that Notre Dame will win 11 games this year. This is the same Notre Dame that lost to a service academy last year. And just when you thought the douchy homerism was going to end ESPN asks which BCS school is going to be the biggest surprise team in the country. Any guesses to whom it was? I'll give you a clue it was another team he coached. If you guessed South Carolina you would be a winner. Next up on Lou's prediction watch, the Jets win the Superbowl, NC St. wins the ACC, Arkansas dominates the SEC West, Minnesota wins the Big...

Ranking the New York Jets Historical Helmets

There's no way you can't go with the Helmet they won the Super Bowl in. You just can't. Next, I really don't understand why they don't where the helmet with the Jet as their throwback uniforms. That helmet is awesome. Then I'm going with the Helmets from the 80s because it's the classic feel and the white face mask is 10 times better than the black one. And the rankings continue until you get to... The Titans Helmet. I hate everything about those Titan uniforms. The Helmets are boring and the colors are GOD awful. Navy blue and Mustard? What the hell is that. Disgusting. If they wore those unis when I was a kid I'd probably be a Giant fan, and be much happier with my life in football.
