NFL Week 11 Pick Suggestions

Took a step in the right direction last week and while it certainly wasn't flawless I'm looking to continue on the tracks this week. Some of the Picks this week seem like No Brainers while some of the other picks I made aka Atlanta are just on some gut feeling that probably was ill advised.

5. San Diego Chargers (+2 1/2) at Denver Broncos

This seems like a sucker no brainer bet, the Broncos have no offense the Chargers have the best offense in the league. Well call me a sucker cause I'm going with a Whale's Vagina. Plummer seemingly has regressed from his nice season last year and is on a terrible td to int pace. In addition Tatum Bell is banged up and their rushing attack isn't that deadly right now. We'll go with LT.

4. Houston Texans (-2 1/2) vs. Buffalo Bills

The Bills stink period, Carr is better than Losman, McGahee is still out the Texans are at home and playing well and the point spread is pretty much nada, seems like a no brainer really. The Texans were money for me last week in Jacksonville, hell they were even getting 10 points last week, so we'll ride the recent wave of success of the improved Houstonians.

3. Atlanta Falcons (+4 1/2) at Baltimore Ravens

Vick's up and down play is due for a turn in a positive direction despite playing one of the best defenses in the league. While its very possible that the Ravens win this game at home, I think it will be in a similar fashion to their comeback wins earlier in the season.

2. Cincinatti Bengals (+3 1/2) at New Orleans Saints

In Ocho Cinco I trust. This is the Bengals last chance to turn their season around. The Saints defense can be gashed and it will be by Carson and the boys. If your team isn't playing at 1 o'clock well tune into this game because I guarantee it will be entertaining. No one that the winner of this game doesn't put up 30+ points.

1. Pittsburgh Steelers (-3 1/2) at Cleveland Browns

Ya this is mostly a pick due to name value of the Steelers but I don't care, Pittsburgh is a very good team if they can avoid the turnovers and I think Big Ben has turned the corner and the Steelers will be very good down the stretch, I'm not saying their going to win the rest of their games, just saying I think they will be a solid pick from here on out.

Tennessee (+13 1/2) at Philadelphia ... I'm sick of picking high point spreads
New England (-5 1/2) at Green Bay ... Brady three losses?
Oakland (+9 1/2) at Kansas City ... Just taking the points
New York Jets (+6 1/2) vs. Chicago ... Got a good feeling, don't ask me why.
St. Louis (+6 1/2) at Carolina ... Going with the Beast Stephen Jackson
Washington (+2 1/2) at Tampa Bay ... Jason Campbell or Gradkowski, crapshoot.
Miami (-3 1/2) vs. Minnesota ... Repeat the Vikings are terrible.
Seattle (-6 1/2) at San Fransisco ... Come on, no brainer right?
Arizona (-2 1/2) vs. Detroit ... Feel bad for those watching this slop.
Indianapolis (-1 1/2) at Dallas ... Boy I hope I get this game wrong.
Jacksonville (-3 1/2) vs. New York Giants ... Giants are in trouble.

Lou Holtz is the Homer / Annoyingly Delusional

As my buddy Joe and I always joke, if Notre Dame was suiting up against an all Jesus team, aka a team made up of 55 Sons of God, Lou Holtz would probably still pick Notre Dame to win by a touchdown. So of course this weekend when I'm watching Sportscenter and they have him and fellow old man Corso making predictions, Lou picks ND to beat Michigan. Not that big of a deal, Michigan is a big question mark this year, but of course than Lou says that Notre Dame will win 11 games this year. This is the same Notre Dame that lost to a service academy last year. And just when you thought the douchy homerism was going to end ESPN asks which BCS school is going to be the biggest surprise team in the country. Any guesses to whom it was? I'll give you a clue it was another team he coached. If you guessed South Carolina you would be a winner. Next up on Lou's prediction watch, the Jets win the Superbowl, NC St. wins the ACC, Arkansas dominates the SEC West, Minnesota wins the Big...

Guest Post: Thoughts on Sabathia Signing

I asked Grutt what his thoughts were on the Sabathia signing and I thought his response pretty much nailed it. So here it is. I don’t know. Every year I get a little more disenchanted with baseball. Yea, it’s great we signed the top pitching free agent. But we were supposed to. No team was even in the ballpark of the Yankees offer yet they still needed to jump from the already ridiculous price of $140 million to $160 million to close the deal. Now I hear we are going to sign more pitchers who will also get large contracts and the position player gaps are still glaring. Each new, large contract just adds to the feeling that the Yanks are supposed to win it all. “I think we have a good chance this year.” That is a lost feeling. If they don’t win I’ll wonder why, like there has to be some other reason besides that it’s a sport you can never predict how things will work out and some years just aren’t yours to be won. If they win I will be pleasantly smug. It gets a little more...
