So who's pumped up for the Brown Steeler thriller tonight, anyone, anyone, guess not? One way or another the Thursday Night forces the picks to come on Thursday. One thing I'm seeing as a theme this week is I absolutely love a bunch of these road marginal favorites with playoff hopes. Call me crazy but when a team has playoff motivation versus a team looking forward to the draft I'm on board.
5. Tennessee Titans (+ 1 1/2) at Houston Texans
The Texans threw for a total of 32 yards last week, and won, huh? Just in case you haven't noticed the Titans in the past 7 weeks have turned into one of the best teams in the NFL knocking off the Giants and the Colts in back to back weeks. I think Vince plays very well in his homecoming and will have a ton of desire to show the citizens of Houston that the organization was stupid for not drafting him.
4. New England Patriots (-3 1/2) at Miami Dolphins
Last week they didn't cover the massive spread cause they didn't show up until the fourth quarter, this week they only nee to beat the Dolphins by more than a field goal in Miami, a weak homefield advantage, who doesn't like playing in the sunshine. The Pats see their remaining schedule and see who the Colts and Chargers have to play down the stretch and can see the possibilities of the bye week which they have utilized so well in the past. The Patriots begin to buckle down this week and continue knocking off teams while scoreboard watching.
3. Atlanta Falcons (-3 1/2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Simply put the Bucs have stopped scoring, the Cadillac has been pillaged for his rims, and Gradkowski is certainly no Tampa hero. In fact the way the Bucs have played the past few seasons, I wouldn't be completely shocked if Gruden takes a whole lot of heat at the conclusion of the season. The Falcons need this game, and with a win would position themselves for a playoff push. With so many ties going around the NFL there are so many games between motivated teams and unmotivated teams, this is one, and one that won't be a letdown.
2. Indianapolis Colts (-1 1/2) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars won last week so they have to be due for a loss right? I think the Colts realize the position they've put themselves in down the stretch, it is imperative for them to win out because perchance they lose two games down the stretch and they will find themselves having to travel through New England in order to get to the Superbowl, and we've seen that January story enough to know the ending. A win for the Colts continues their driver seat to homefield throughout and knocks the annoying Jaguars to the back of the bus.
1. Seattle Seahawks (-3 1/2) at Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals are getting better from week to week but that will do nothing to help them stop the Seahawks who are now fully equipped with Alexander and Hasselbeck back and fully motivated to win the remainder of their games. Out of all the teams in the entire NFL the Seahawks have to value homefield the most. Qwest Field is the loudest stadium in the league and a bye and a home game would turn the Seahawks back into the NFC favorite. I expect them to soundly defeat the Cardinals.
Cleveland (+7 1/2) at Pittsburgh ... Pitt motivated at all?
Baltimore (+2 1/2) at Kansas City ... Tough call at Arrowhead, but Ravens see Cincy in rearview
New York Giants (+2 1/2) at Carolina ... Chris Weinke = Loss
Cincinatti (-10 1/2) vs. Oakland ... Bengals choo choo continues
Philadelphia (+1 1/2) at Washington ... Playoff push with Jeff playing well
Detroit (-2 1/2) vs. Minnesota ... Players calling for Johnson's head = Bad
Green Bay (+4 1/2) at San Francisco ... Packers play well on the road, why, who knows?
New York Jets (-3 1/2) vs. Buffalo ... Soy mucho nervoso
Denver (+7 1/2) at San Diego ... Went with the Spread basically
New Orleans (+6 1/2) at Dallas ... Did the same here, I expect a fun shootout.
Chicago (-6 1/2) at St. Louis ... I like Rexy to play well.
