~Yesterday New England's very own hero and heart throb sent 99% of his fans into mild heart failure by strolling around the streets of New York with a Yankees hat on. Ha even he after being a hero in boston for this whole decade, knows that New York is better. So Congrats Tom for atleast one single day I do not want you to get runover by a bus. But come training camp, ya I'll be hoping for an ankle snap.~In other Red Sox news, Jon Lester had to be pulled from his rehab start in the 3rd yesterday due to some stiffness, so that certainly isn't very good for the Sox. Be interesting to see if it amounts to anything over the next few days.
~Forget to mention this earlier in the week but Julian Tavarez is a nutjob. “I don’t think we need him. We don’t need him,” insisted Tavarez. “We’ve got some young guys down there who can do it, too. We’ve got Kason Gabbard [stats], Jon Lester, a guy who is 22 years old who can bring it. This guy is going to be a Sandy Koufax some day.”
~Beckett is 6-0. The Hanley trade was not the best of moves, but Beckett is still only 26 and could be your staff ace for a decade to come. Stop being annoyed Sox fans.
~Nothing says kick in the groin to a fantasy baseball player other than your catcher going down for multiple weeks in the season. And considering I'm in three money leagues and I own Piazza (Out 4-6) in each of them and will be forced to pick up Carlos Ruiz or Brian Schneider instead, ya not pleased with that. Crunch.~So much for the Chelsea Man U Champions league final as both lost in the Semi's yesterday. But there is one benefit it brings forth a rematch of the 05 finals between AC Milan and Liverpool which was the absolute greatest sporting event I have ever watched. Better than any basketball, football, tennis, golf, baseball game I have ever watched.
~So did you know Ryan Langerhans got traded to the A's this weekend and suited up in a game versus the Red Sox, um I didn't. Well apparently the A's didn't like what they saw because within 72 hours of picking him up they shipped him off to the Nats for Chris Snelling. Langerhans is batting a robust .043 with 3 hits in 48 bats.
~I'm not much of a boxing fan and don't really follow it much but you have to laugh at some of the storylines in this De La Hoya Mayweather fights. De La Hoya fought and beat Mayweather's uncle in the 4th round via a TKO in 1993 in one of his first boughts. Floyd's father trained both him and De La Hoya but during different time frames. Floyd Sr. trained his son in the late 90s until his son canned him in favor of a different uncle. Sr. trained De La Hoya from 2000-2006 and wanted to train De La Hoya to kick the crap out of his son for this fight, but wanted 2 mill to do son which Oscar declined. However, Oscar invited Floyd Sr. to the fight while his own son did not. All of this interlocking of family and fighting is quite humurous to me. I don't know who I really want to win, Mayweather certainly would seem to be the big favorite given the fact that Oscar lost to Sugar Shane Mosely twice, who's not that good, and Mayweather has never lost. It's touched on pretty well here and here too.~Adios Kobe, I think you made the mistake of trusting your GM to support you with a good team post Jerry West. Bad move. I love how people are killing him for pushing Shaq out and saying that it was a miserable trade. Sure Shaq was a below average trade. But that's not nearly as bad as the Caron Butler for Kwame Brown deal. Butler was an all star this year, a fantastic all around player, and will be an all star in years to come, they got a stiff for him. So don't blame it all on Kobe that his GM isn't very good.

~I was right on with the Nadal beating Federer pick. Even though I said I had no idea how it would have been played. Nadal has such an advantage of getting to balls on clay that any time you hit the to him on that surface he's almost unbeatable. Granted it was only an exhibition but Nadal has Federer's number and the French Open for the Fed Cup is looking like a challenge that isn't going to go his way.
