This season the NBA has listened to one of my many thoguht and has started to track a players +/- during the course of individual games. Due to my dislike of Brian Scalabrine, I am going to track he's performance in a weekly post called The Scalabrine Watch. 3 Million a year for what?
Celtics 111 Sonics 82: DNP
Celtics 92 Jazz 110: DNP
Celtics 99 Bucks 77: +4
Scalabrine actually in uniform and on the court for the first time in weeks and the last time in weeks. 2 assists and 2 rebounds in 6 minutes isn't all that bad. But he's a better cheerleader than player, so Doc has been using him in his more natural position.
Game Stats: 6 Minutes, 0-0, 1 Point, 2 Rebound, 2 Assists
Celtics 93 Spurs 91: DNP
Celtics 94 Rockets 74: DNP
Celtics 94 Mavericks 90: DNP
Celtics 106 Hornets 113: DNP
Celtics 90 76ers 95: DNP
Celtics 117 Suns 97: DNP
Celtics 112 Hornets 92: DNP
Celtics 88 Heat 62: DNP
Overall Period Performance: +4
In the span of three weeks, Scalabrine has only seen the floor one time. One measely game to which he had a +/- of positive 4. Yes one game in 3 weeks and he's making 3 million dollars. Why doesn't he atleast put on a cheerleaders outfit and start hucking the dancers in the air?
Weeks Stats: 6 Minutes, 0-0, 1 Point, 2 Rebounds, 2 Assists
Overall Season Performance: +27
With the DNPs coming full steam ahead it looks as if Scals will finish the season with a positive plus/minus. I can't decide whether I just want the DNPs to continue or if I want him to get a ton of PT over the last week of the season while the Cs rest Allen, Pierce and KG and hope that his +/- dips closer to par. We shall see what the Doctor orders.
Season Stats:10:18 MPG, .317 FG%, 1.9 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 0.8 APG
