History of the Super Bowl Passing TD Record

Over the next week and a half I'll be charting out the progressions of some of the Super Bowl Records. Why? Because we all want to learn.


This is just common place right now, Bart Starr out performed Len Dawson in Super Bowl I and thus set all the meaningful passing records. In this case he threw 2 touchdown passes. This record was tied 4 times through the years before it was broken. Daryle LaMonica threw 2 tds in Super Bowl II in the Raiders loss. Roger Staubach threw 2 tds in both Super Bowl VI and Super Bowl XX. And finally Terry Bradshaw equaled Roger's output in Super Bowl XX with two of his own tds. Bradshaw took three seasons to reset the record when he threw for four TDs in Super Bowl XIII. This record was matched by Doug Williams in the Redskins Super Bowl XXII victory. The great Joe Montana wiped out this record when he threw for five tds in Super Bowl XXIV. Montana's record was than dumped by his successor when Steve Young threw for 6 tds in the 49ers annhiliation of the Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX.

As my buddy Joe and I always joke, if Notre Dame was suiting up against an all Jesus team, aka a team made up of 55 Sons of God, Lou Holtz would probably still pick Notre Dame to win by a touchdown. Ranking the New York Jets Historical Helmets

There's no way you can't go with the Helmet they won the Super Bowl in. You just can't. Next, I really don't understand why they don't where the helmet with the Jet as their throwback uniforms. That helmet is awesome. Then I'm going with the Helmets from the 80s because it's the classic feel and the white face mask is 10 times better than the black one. And the rankings continue until you get to... The Titans Helmet. I hate everything about those Titan uniforms. The Helmets are boring and the colors are GOD awful. Navy blue and Mustard? What the hell is that. Disgusting. If they wore those unis when I was a kid I'd probably be a Giant fan, and be much happier with my life in football.
