BCS Coaches Need Some Cheese with that Whine

Last Week Charlie Weis became one of the many major division one coaches to bitch and moane about the BCS rankings. Complaining that Tennessee and Florida moved ahead of the rankings when Tennessee played a similar game that weekend and Florida sat idle. His arguments were similar to any politician's advertisement you see popping up on your television all excuses and yelling about what other teams have not done instead of mentioning valid points of why Notre Dame should be ranked higher. Charlie the fact remains that you have no stellar victories on your resume this season while Tennessee whiped the floor with Cal, possibly the best team in the Pac 10, and Florida knocked of Tennessee in Rocky Top. Charlie had no reason to open his mouth and complain but he certainly wasn't the first nor the last coach to do so.

Last month Tommy, I'm still bitter of 2004, Tuberville came out and said that the SEC has no chance of going to the national title game and that the pollsters take into account losses too much and not the quality of the team. Basically he was complaining about West Virginia and Louisville being ranked ahead of his Auburn Tigers. Tommy to quote the great Bill Parcells, "You are what your record says you are." Well, Tommy if you didn't get thumped at home you would be ranked #2 in the country and you had the easiest possible schedule in SEC history with all difficult games coming at home. And why complain, West Virginia and Lousiville still have the toughest part of their schedule remaining, just win out and everything will take care of itself.

To further the nuisance of Tommy Tuberville whining all you have to do is look up to the land of the Badgers. The Badgers have really gotten no love from the media and the pollsters despite their one loss coming in the Big House to the second best team in the nation. So what do the Badgers have to complain about you may ask? How about their preseason ranking as opposed to that of Auburn's? Auburn came into the season ranked #6 in the country while Wisconsin on the other hand was ranked where? Oh not ranked at all. And why is this an injustice, well lets slide back to the bowl season and who thumped Auburn in the Citrus Bowl, oh wait it was Wisconsin.

The most egregious of these whine and cheese acts by a coach in recent history came from Mack Brown and the Texas Longhorns two seasons ago. Where Mack Brown single handedly whined his way into the BCS over California. And what was his main argument that year? Oh we only lost one game and it was to Oklahoma and they are playing in the National Title game. Oh and who did California lose to, oh yeah USC who went on to massacre Oklahoma in the Championship game. And the pollsters went with him and changed their rankings leaving the Longhorns in the Rose Bowl while Cal was stuck in the Holiday poll. Its absolutely pathetic that this was allowed to happen and I will hold this against Mack Brown for the rest of his coaching career. If this is ever allowed to happen again, where one coach coming to the press and complaining about their status influences the way other coaches and pollsters create their rankings than they should be ashamed of themselves.

Note to Tommy and Charlie and Mack Brown and all others that want to whine about their position in the rankings, Just Shut Up.

Let's not forget the outcome of Mack Brown's pitch..

Cal gets shellacked by the Red Raiders 45-31 and well, you know what happened to the Wolverines in the Rose Bowl...

Very True, however it doesn't mean they deserved to be in the game more just because they won it.

And honestly if you were Cal and you got bitchslapped out of the Rose Bowl because a grown man cried like a baby would you really be pumped up to play in the Holiday bowl?

Lou Holtz is the Homer / Annoyingly Delusional

As my buddy Joe and I always joke, if Notre Dame was suiting up against an all Jesus team, aka a team made up of 55 Sons of God, Lou Holtz would probably still pick Notre Dame to win by a touchdown. So of course this weekend when I'm watching Sportscenter and they have him and fellow old man Corso making predictions, Lou picks ND to beat Michigan. Not that big of a deal, Michigan is a big question mark this year, but of course than Lou says that Notre Dame will win 11 games this year. This is the same Notre Dame that lost to a service academy last year. And just when you thought the douchy homerism was going to end ESPN asks which BCS school is going to be the biggest surprise team in the country. Any guesses to whom it was? I'll give you a clue it was another team he coached. If you guessed South Carolina you would be a winner. Next up on Lou's prediction watch, the Jets win the Superbowl, NC St. wins the ACC, Arkansas dominates the SEC West, Minnesota wins the Big

Ranking the New York Jets Historical Helmets

There's no way you can't go with the Helmet they won the Super Bowl in. You just can't. Next, I really don't understand why they don't where the helmet with the Jet as their throwback uniforms. That helmet is awesome. Then I'm going with the Helmets from the 80s because it's the classic feel and the white face mask is 10 times better than the black one. And the rankings continue until you get to... The Titans Helmet. I hate everything about those Titan uniforms. The Helmets are boring and the colors are GOD awful. Navy blue and Mustard? What the hell is that. Disgusting. If they wore those unis when I was a kid I'd probably be a Giant fan, and be much happier with my life in football.
