NCAA Week 10 Power Rankings

Very much a tough task in sorting out these Power Rankings with only so many one loss teams, and some of those teams having little to no quality victories. In the end Rutgers slips into the last spot of the rankings with limited quality victories but zero losses and obviously no bad losses.

1. Ohio State Buckeyes - Cruise Control, was the correct term to use when I said it last week as the Buckeyes didn't put away the Zookers and were an onside kick away from defending their undefeated season. I wouldn't be worried with the close outing as you know that it was just natural for OSU and Michigan to look ahead on the schedule.Quality Wins: Penn St., @Texas, @Iowa

2. Michigan Wolverines - What happened to the defense this weekend. While Ball St. score their first 9 points via Chad Henne and the Michigan Offense, still Michigan's defense gave up way more points than anyone would have expected. One more Big 10 game versus Indiana to not sleep through and then the showdown.Quality Wins: Wisconsin, @ND, @Penn St., Iowa

3. Florida Gators - The Gators just do not like playing Vandy. Who knows why. Also, UGA is no longer a quality win anytime a team loses to Kentucky and Vandy they are not a good team. The victory in Rocky Top and the dominant performance against LSU still holds the Gators narrowly ahead of the competetion.Quality Wins: @Rocky Top, Alabama, LSU

4. Auburn Tigers - The two things holding back Auburn from the 3 spot are their miserable beatdown at the hands of Arkansas and the fact that the have the easiest SEC schedule in recorded history with all their big games coming at home. Auburn had to be severely disappointed at the sloppy first have from Spurriers bunch and the ability of Arkansas to hold onto a win. Quality Wins: LSU, @South Carolina, Florida Bad Loss: Arkansas

5. Southern Cal Trojans - The Trojans still have a good amount of quality wins and if they can run the table they certainly could make a case as being the best 1 loss team in the country. The Stanford win was a nice way for the squad to get healthy, but now comes the gauntlet of Oregon, Cal, ND, and UCLA. Lets see how Booty's bunch does. Quality Wins: Nebraska, @Arkansas, @Wash St. Bad Loss: Oregon St.

6. Arkansas Razorbacks: The Razorbacks go into cockland and narrowly hold on. Now they sit controlling their own destiny and if Erik Ainge cannot contribute for the Vols next week in Fayetteville and the Razorbacks can sneak out a win then they will be Georgia Dome bound for the SEC title game.Quality Wins: Alabama, @Auburn, @South Carolina Bad Loss: USC

7. Louisville Cardinals - While the Miami victory is not nearly as impressive as it looked at the time, the West Virginia win was very impressive and showed that even without Michael Bush the Cardinal offense is incredibly dynamic and very difficult to defend. The Cards drove at will on West Virginia and despite their difficulties in the red zone the first half they still managed 44 points. I believe that if the Cards run they table they deserve to be in the title game, however for right now I am not going to rank them #3 as they still have to beat Rutgers, USF, and Pitt the next best 3 in the Big East to completely have me sold. Quality Wins: Miami, WVU

8. Texas Longhorns - I would very much like the Longhorns to lose to completely be eliminated from Title hope contentions but I just do not see them losing the ramiander of the season, they just have too many athletes and the Big 12 is not very good. Quality Wins: Oklahoma, @Nebraska

9. California Golden Bears- Cal has impressed in their Pac 10 schedule but until they face off against the Torjans you really do not know the quality of this squad as they failed so miserably in their biggest test of the season. Quality Wins: @Wash St., Arizona St., Oregon Bad Loss: @Rocky Top

10. Notre Dame Fighting Irish- Um ya who really cares what the scores are for Notre Dame against any service academy or UNC, all that matters for ND is that showdown in LA in 3 weeks, win that and gain major respect, lose it and you're just another ND team that survived season beating bad teams and getting undeserved amounts of love.Quality Wins: Penn St., @GaTech Bad Loss: Michigan

11. Rutgers Scarlet Knights - Coming off a bye week and headed into the showdown against Louisville the Scarlet Knights sneak into the rankings. Their quality wins aren't overly impressive though Pitt and South Florida are decent squads and the fact that they are away helps, but the remainder of the teams on the bubble either sit with 2 losses, a bad loss or even weaker quality wins. Quality Wins: @Pitt, @South Florida

Dropped Out: Boston College after their turnover laden demise in Winston-Salem, Tennessee drops out not just because of the loss but because UGA, Bama, Cocks all fall and bring to question their worth as quality victories.

Bubble Teams: GaTech, Wake Forest, VaTech, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Wisconsin

Past Power Rankings: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

Notes

~Fresno St. has turned into one of the worst teams in the country, so much for the we'll play anyone anywhere philosophy, after this weeks beatdown at the hands of the Smurf Turf, the Bulldogs sit at 1-7.

~Tennessee desperately needed a healthy Erik Ainge against LSU this weekend, that really was the difference of the game. In addition the fact that Ainge suited up in the first quarter and was clearly not able to play did not help the Vols cause either, goodbye SEC title for UT.

~Wake Forest picked up a nice victory over BC, but I put the onus on Matt Ryan and some of the idiotic throws he made. While Wake is sitting atop the mantle right now look out for FSU, VaTech, Maryland on the remainder of the schedule. If they get through that stretch not only will the be in the Power Rankings they'll move near the top.

~I really like Wisconsin I've been proclaiming them the third best team in the Big 10 ever since their loss against Michigan, but it's impossible to thrust them into the top 11 simply because their schedule is so meager. Their out of conference schedule consistant of a big fat zero good teams. And even in the Big 10 they managed to avoid Ohio St., and as we have seen by the poor play of Iowa, PSU, etc. the Big 10 is not that deep this year. And who finishes off the season with a game against Buffalo? What is that garbage?

~Hey everyone and especially Mark May, Iowa is the most overrated team in the nation. Any team that goes out and loses to Northwestern when some people predicted that not only would they win the Big 10 outright but have national title hopes, they qualify as overrated. Mark you like like a bigger idiot than Lee Corso and thats tough considering Corso predicted a win from Carlos Baldomir this weekend.

~And Mark Reicht wants to make sure he's in the overrated coaches discussion as he never wins the big game and this year he decided to lose some of the gimmees.

~Bama I just want to let you know that Miss St. never wins road games, just in case you didn't know.

~Maybe Houston busts his Nutt to Darren McFadden.

Lou Holtz is the Homer / Annoyingly Delusional

As my buddy Joe and I always joke, if Notre Dame was suiting up against an all Jesus team, aka a team made up of 55 Sons of God, Lou Holtz would probably still pick Notre Dame to win by a touchdown. So of course this weekend when I'm watching Sportscenter and they have him and fellow old man Corso making predictions, Lou picks ND to beat Michigan. Not that big of a deal, Michigan is a big question mark this year, but of course than Lou says that Notre Dame will win 11 games this year. This is the same Notre Dame that lost to a service academy last year. And just when you thought the douchy homerism was going to end ESPN asks which BCS school is going to be the biggest surprise team in the country. Any guesses to whom it was? I'll give you a clue it was another team he coached. If you guessed South Carolina you would be a winner. Next up on Lou's prediction watch, the Jets win the Superbowl, NC St. wins the ACC, Arkansas dominates the SEC West, Minnesota wins the Big

Ranking the New York Jets Historical Helmets

There's no way you can't go with the Helmet they won the Super Bowl in. You just can't. Next, I really don't understand why they don't where the helmet with the Jet as their throwback uniforms. That helmet is awesome. Then I'm going with the Helmets from the 80s because it's the classic feel and the white face mask is 10 times better than the black one. And the rankings continue until you get to... The Titans Helmet. I hate everything about those Titan uniforms. The Helmets are boring and the colors are GOD awful. Navy blue and Mustard? What the hell is that. Disgusting. If they wore those unis when I was a kid I'd probably be a Giant fan, and be much happier with my life in football.
