NFL Week 9 Pick Suggestions

I notice that I tend to lean to heavily towards the favorites every week. I did so again this week, so with the way things have been going I'd expect another .500 week.

5. Atlanta Falcons (-5 1/2) at Detroit Lions

Two reasons why the Falcons are a solid pick this weekend, 1) Vick is playing out of his mind and and he will remain indoors in Detroit and will not have to be bothered with poor conditions. 2) The Lions defense is absolutely positivily atrocious.

4. St. Louis Rams (-2 1/2) vs. Kansas City Chiefs

This game will most likely be a shootout and while I expect Larry Johnson to go off I expect Bulger and Steven Jackson coming off a bye week to more than hold their own in the scorefest and move to 5-3. Damon Huard is bound to have a bad game eventually.

3. New York Giants (-13 1/2) vs. Houston Texans

So what have the Giants been doing incredibly well these past few weeks, rush the passer. And what have the Texans been absolutely terrible at doing for their franchises history, protect the passer. Seeing a theme for this game. David Carr's going to need a long Ice Bath following the game sunday.

2. Green Bay Packers (+3 1/2) at Buffalo Bills

I repeat, I really don't think the Packers are that bad of a team this season. The Bills on the other hand have JP Losman at QB. And while Buffalo's chills are normally a solid homefield advantage, who plays better in the cold in the history of the NFL than Brett Favre.

1. Chicago Bears (-13 1/2) vs. Miami Dolphins

Joey Harrington against he Bears defense? Wow that should be entertaining, maybe Grossman plays like garbage to keep the Bears close in this game, but I highly doubt that and expect the Bears to have similar results against the Dolphins as they did with the Niners.

New Orleans (-1 1/2) at Tampa Bay ... Bounce back for Bush, Brees and co.
Tennessee (+9 1/2) at Jacksonville ... Garrard does not equal potent Offense
Cincinatti (+3 1/2) at Baltimore ... Ocho Cinco smashes Ray in the mouth
Dallas (-3 1/2) at Washington ... Washington is a carcuss
Minnesota (-6 1/2) at San Fran ... Niners just that bad
San Diego (-12 1/2) vs. Cleveland ... Whale's Vagina finding swagger
Denver (+2 1/2) at Pitt ... What makes you think Cheeseburger plays well
New England (-2 1/2) vs. Indy ... Peyton in NE = bad news
Oakland (+8 1/2) at Seattle ... Oaklands defense actually decent

Numbers On Steroids: Bret Boone

Numbers on Steroids is a look at baseball players during the 90s to see if anything screams out at you. Mr. Boone was once the best power hitting second baseman in the league. How questionable was his success? Averages Say: Why the extra plateu in his mid 30s? At Bats Per Home Run Says: Lowest at Bats Per Home Runs at 37? Hmm.... Explaining It Away Yeak, this one is tough. Umm, late bloomer? He showed potential power early in his career and he just liked playing in Seattle a lot more than everywhere else? And umm, his career was kind of like a running backs in that it just all of a sudden fell off the map? Any of these convincing you? The Verdict Guy never hits more than 24 home runs in a season and then in his age 32 season he hits 37? And in SafeCo a pitchers park to boot? And he follows that up with 24, 35, 24 homer years still at SafeCo? And then he completely falls off the map in 2005 never to be heard from again? We've got a Screamer... Man Get Big Muscles In 30s. Hm...
