The Worst of the Decade: NBA Draft Picks

It's the end of the decade. So it's time for some lists. Today's list is the Worst NBA Draft Picks of the past decade. 11. Jordan Hill, #8 2009, Knicks: It's very very early to proclaim Jordan Hill one of the worst draft picks of the decade, but I'm going to do it anyway. The Knicks needed a point guard and Brandon Jennings was on the board. With all D'Antoni's ties to the Italian League you would have thought he might have had a good scouting report, apparently not. Hill already has 12 DNP-CDs while Brandon Jennings is the new big thing in the NBA. 10. Yaroslav Korolev, #12 2005, Clippers: Korolev totaled just 34 career games with the Clippers before running back to Russia to play for Moscow. The Clippers could have gone in the right direction and grabbed Danny Granger. Instead they got 34 games of 39 total points and 16 total rebounds. Woo. 9. Fran Vázquez, #11 2005, Magic: Maybe you've heard of Fran Vázquez and maybe you haven't. ...

This is Tyler Hansbrough

This picture was just too good to not turn into its own pose. Its the patented Hansbrough "Nothing Is Going On Inside this Brain" look and this was at his press conference nonetheless.

The Draft has come and gone so now its time for teams to attempt to pawn off tickets on their fans by packaging them with "prize packs". You Get Clippers Season Tickets and a Bag of Clippers Poo You Get Pacers Season Tickets and Get to Touch Hansbrough You Get Bobcats Season Tickets and You Get a Signed Ball By a Duke Douchebag You Get 5 Nets Tickets and You Get a T-shirt of Their 3rd String Swingman

2009 Uninformed NBA Mock Draft

Here's your 2009 NBA Mock Draft, which was built according to my deviously brilliant calculation methods. Or by looking at experts mock drafts and changing things based on my random and likely incorrect personal opinions. I'd explain the picks but, eh I don't feel like it. Just know my brilliance when I win the XBOX and NBA Live Game .

Does This Draft Suck or Is It Just Me?

I've mentioned this once already , but does this draft just feel like one of those drafts that is filled with mediocre players? First off basically everybody that's going to get drafted in the lottery is ridiculously young, so chances are good that you've barely seen any of them play much. Secondly, if you have, I doubt you came away terribly impressed. Let's do a run down of each player in the top 30 and give my impressions of each. 1. Blake Griffin - He's far and away the best player in the draft, but A) He's going to be a Clipper and B) Does he have a mid range jumper? He's athletic as hell and will be good, but the Karl Malone comparisons are a bit much. How about somewhere in between Karl Malone and Carlos Boozer? Sound good? 2. Ricky Rubio - Raise your hand if you've seen Rubio play? [My hand is down]. The scouting reports say "Great Passer, Needs to Add Bulk, Not Incredibly Athletic, Not the Best Shooter, Defense is Good". 18 Year old u...

Timberwolves Move to the Uber-Youth Movement

The Minnesota Timberwolves decided to morph their team into the High School project by trading Mike Miller and Randy Foye for the 5th pick in Thursdays draft as well as Darius Songaila, Oleksiy Pecherov, and Etan Thomas. The trade now gives the Timberwolves the 5th, 6th, 18th and 28th pick in the draft. The rumors of Mike Miller be dealt by the Timberwolves have been floating around for as long as he's been a member of the team but I'm pretty damn surprised that they dealt away Randy Foye. Foye is just 25 years old, he did average 16 points last year and the Timberwolves did trade Brandon Roy for him on draft day. I would think that the Timberwolves could have done better than a #5 pick and 3 useless players for two solid NBA guys. The Timberwolves apparently desire to move up to the #2 pick in the draft, but even if they draft #5 & #6, that's two picks that they hope will have a major impact. Throw in the fact that now the best players on their roster are all 26 or un...

The Clippers Decide It's Rubio or Griffin

Well I guess Ricky Rubio is in the #1 draft pick discussion considering the Clipshow are hawking both his and Blake Griffin's images to sell season tickets for the big article on their homepage . However, if you're not Rubio or Griffin you can end that hope now.

Oh Yay, The Clippers Get The #1 Pick

It could be argued that last night was amongst the worst nights in Blake Griffin's life. We all knew prior to the lottery last night that Blake Griffin was going to be the first pick, it was just a matter of where. Of all the teams to wind up on, I'd imagine that the Clippers were near the bottom of the list, if not completely rock bottom. The Clippers have been amongst the worst professional franchises in America since their existence. Their owner is a joke. They are the ugly stepchild in their own city. Despite the NBA inviting over 50% of their teams to the playoffs year after year, the Clippers rarely ever make it . Throw in the fact that the current roster is filled with totally random pieces which include aging All-Stars in Baron Davis and Marcus Camby and most negatively a malcontent best player in Zach Randolph who just so happens to play the same position and has a contract which is completely unloadable. At some point in time last night someone mentioned Mr. Olow...

The Blake Griffin Lottery

The 2009 NBA Draft Lottery is tonight and well I'm not that interested. If you flip through ESPN's mock draft lottery tool , there is not a single scenario where Blake Griffin does not get drafted first. In fact I have yet to see one scenario where Ricky Rubio does not get drafted second. Sure, Blake Griffin is a monster and Ricky Rubio is supposed to be some stud Euro-Point Guard, but neither seems a lock to be a perennial all star. It's not like landing either is going to jump a team like the ClipShow from irrelevance to playoff glory. If this draft closely resembles any of the past its clearly the 1997 Draft, aka the Tim Duncan Lottery . We all knew Duncan was going 1 and Keith Van Horn was going #2. The rest of the picks were uninspiring. Sure Chauncey Billups has morphed into one of the best point guards in the league and for awhile T-Mac was one of the top scorers in the NBA, but neither was a guaranteed thing on draft day or for a few years. The rest of the draft pic...

The Wrong Hat Parade

This is arguably my favorite part of the draft. Players wearing hats for teams they never play for. Lovely: Memphis -> Minny Mayo: Minny -> Memphis Super Nintendo: Minny -> Miami Bayless: Pacers -> Blazers Rush: Blazers -> Pacers Batum: Rockets -> Blazers Dorsey: Blazers ->Rockets Arthur: NO -> Portland -> Houston -> Memphis And of course the absolute best was Darrell Arthur, who wore a New Orleans hat even though New Orleans sold the pick days ago and then he was traded twice more in the night. What a roller coaster ride.
