Degrees of Loss Separation: UConn> West Virginia

The Degrees of Loss Separation is a simple concept, I go out and find a highly rated team with some losses playing against a crappy team with lots of losses. Next I find a chain of losses which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt (not at all) that the underdog is going to pull the major upset and storm the field. The Final Outcome is calculated simply: Add up the scores of the losers, add up the scores of the winners in the degrees of loss separation and divide both by the # of degrees. The Game: Connecticut Huskies vs. West Virginia Mountaineers This Degrees of Loss Separation is in honor of the recently deceased Jasper Howard. By now you must know that he was stabbed to death outside a UConn building on the night of a school dance. I think we can all agree that this must be an incredibly difficult time for the Huskies and that unless you are from West Virginia you will be pulling for them this weekend. 10º of Loss Separation : UConn > Louisville > Southern Miss > Memphis ...

Hey, Why Don't We Just Kick a Guy In the Head Until He Dies

This week in why humans can suck, we get a case in Philadelphia where a brawl starts courtesy of a spilled drink and ends in the death of a 22 year old . Essentially the argument started with a spilled drink in a crowded bar outside of Citizen's Bank Park during a Phillies game. The two groups involved were a Bachelor party and a group headed down to the game on a bar sponsored trip. After the spilled drink an argument between the two groups started and after everyone was kicked out of the stadium the groups naturally continued the fight onto the street. The end result of course was David Hale, the brother of the bride, getting repeatedly kicked in the head to the point where his head trama killed him. At what point can anyone logically think that holding a man down and kicking him in the fucking head is really a sensible thing to do? What kind of people do shit like this? The answer of course is.... people with prior assault records of course. Two of the three shit bags tha...

Well That's a Miserable Way to Die

You go to the stadium to see your favorite team play with a bunch of your family members, leaving your pregnant wife at home but taking your young children. The game then ends, your team wins and you venture down from the upperdeck only to find that because you are in a shitty old stadium like Shea Stadium the escalator is broken down and not working so you have to walk down the steps. Somehow someway you lose your balance (perhaps due to an intoxicated decision to try to slide down the escalator) and you fall two stories, smash on the concrete and that's the end, you die on your way to the hospital . Perhaps the man was an idiot and tried to slide down the escalator, either way if you're in a professional ball park the god damn escalators should be functional. Maybe if they were functional the guy would have just stepped on the escalator and let it ride him down. Perhaps I'm in the minority but I've always been afraid of heights, or falling rather. I absolutely ha...

Lost Talent and Lost Life

By now you've probably read somewhere or seen the fact that former NBA player Eddie Griffin died after driving his SUV into an oncoming train . J.A. Adande writes a terrific column on why Eddie Griffin is now the posterboy of how entering the draft early can be incredibly costly and the wrong decision . To me Eddie Griffin was one of my favorite players, as odd as that may sound to others. During the 00-01 season I absolutely fell in love with the Seton Hall team. They had three terrific freshman with Andre Barrett, Marcus Toney-El and Eddie himself. They had shot-blocking and uber athlete Samuel Dalembert. They got off to a terrific start and even sky rocketed to the #7 ranking in the country before collapsing in the Big East. They were by far my favorite team that season and Eddie was the shining star. I knew there was a great chance he was going to leave the Hall after winning freshman of the year honors but I hoped that he would stay at the Hall and lead them to a Fin...

A Diplomatic Big Sexy

Last week it was the Ultimate Warrior who was a little rambling at times but made the a sufficient argument. Now this video of Kevin Big Sexy Nash, who makes the broadcasters look like absolute idiots and seems to be well spoken enough to run for congress if he so desired. This makes me glad that I've never turned on Fox News before as these folks are just idiots. Karen Hanretty, have you personal come in contact with anyone who has taking steroids? How the hell do you know whether or not these people often have roid rage. Now on the opposite end Karen, have you ever come across an angry drunk or reported a crime committed by someone who was enraged in a drunken stupor. Honestly, this steroid angle is a bit much. Benoit Story is All Over the Place

Every single second this Benoit story branches out into something different over the past few days here are just a few of the things that have come to light. 1. Mom Says Benoit Should Have Been Charged for Steroid Use Basically the semblance of this story line is that the DEA had known for a given period of time that he was a steroid user and his mother believes that had they arrested him this would not have happened. Most likely a correct assumption. However, the DEA basically tries to assemble a case to take out the distributors of drugs rather than the users and had they arrested Benoit it would have been out of character and one really can't have possibly foreseen this crime at the DEA. 2. Benoit May Have Used Crippler Crossface This is the most horrendous part of the story. It is believed that due to the bruises on the child that Benoit may in fact have killed his son using his signature wrestling move. This just takes the dementia and the craziness of Benoit to another...

Did WWE Do the Right Thing?

Back when I was in middle school and the early stages of high school I like many others my age got into wrestling. It was at its prime, WCW was peaking with the introduction of the NWO and the WWF introduced Degeneration X and the Rock was starting to peak people's interest. Eventually I waned off watching but I have always been familiar with the characters. The Canadian Crippler, Chris Benoit had been around forever. He was a mainstay at WCW and when that organization folded the WWE(F) snatched him up immediately. One thing was certain from his on stage persona, he was a guy who they could always run out to be a pissed off foaming at the mouth mother f'er. Well this weekend he canceled his appearance at the WWE's pay per view due to personal reasons, on yesterday he along with his wife and their son were found dead in what is believed to be a murder suicide , with the death of the wife and son believed to have occurred over the weekend and Benoit dead sometime yesterda...

Dark Day

It's a sad day for Americans after such a senseless, senseless act. My best friend went to VaTech and is completely dedicated to Hokie nation and absolutely loved his time in Blacksburg and is a bit shaken. There's a good chance that I myself during the time I visited him stepped foot in that building myself as he had classes in the building throughout his college career and I spent a few hours in some computer labs around campus while he was in class. I understand the back tracking and saying that the police should have implored the president to shutdown campus but I think everything is monday morning quarterbacking, there's no history of this type of event ever. Nothing like this has ever happened, I'm sure the cops and the VaTech officials looked at everything and made what they thought was the best decision and that there was no threat to anyone outside the dorm. Unfortunately they were wrong, but there is absolutely no reason to put any of the blame on the presiden...
