Why Does Venus Williams Look Like a Basket?

"Hi, I'm Venus Williams. My sister has won 5 Grand Slams since the last time I won one, however I continually beat her in the ludicrous outfit category. Remember the nude shorts . Well now I bring to you... a woven basket on my stomach!"

Chasing Lines: Nadal Is Back

Best online sports betting bonuses and promotions at Sportsbetting.com. Join now the most secure online sportsbook ! In 2009 the tennis world was shocked by Robin Soderling's defeat of Rafael Nadal. The defeat came out of nowhere for Nadal and helped Roger Federer complete the career grandslam. The defeat also means that for only the 2nd time of his career*, Rafael Nadal is not defending his title at Roland Garros. As a result the gambling lines for Nadal moved into the realm of contemplation. At the start of the tourney you could find lines as good as 1:2. While this line isn't the most appealing in the world, putting up more money than you would win in return is never the most desirable decision, but in reality its easy money. Nadal has already won the French Open 4 times in his career. He has yet to lose this season on clay, having won three tournaments during the clay season. In those three tournaments Nadal dropped a total of two sets. Through two rounds at...

Female Tennis Players Make the Funniest Faces

The Australian Open has begun thus giving me the opportunity to do one of my absolute favorite things, peruse the Women's Tennis Photo Wire. These faces can not be made up, though I'm not sure any can top Jelena Dokic from last year . Zvonerava has the Bug Eye look absolutely perfected.

I Am Woman?

It appears as if Dinara Safina is on the Serena Williams protein diet. Jesus look at those arms.

Thinking Lines: Is Now Andy Murray's Time?

This post is brought to you by SPORTSBETTING.com. Get best online sports betting bonuses at this sportsbook . The Australian Open starts this coming weekend so its time to start thinking about just who is going to win the tournament. The main contenders are obviously Roger Federer (2:1) and Rafael Nadal (2:1) whom combined have won this tournament seemingly every year. But honestly who wants to gamble at 2:1 odds and are either truly a lock to win the tournament? Federer has come back to the pack some over the past year and showed vulnerability against people not named Nadal when he got crushed by Juan Martin Del Potro at the US Open. Nadal and his lingering knee issues will have to show me something before I jump back on the bandwagon. Nope my pick this Aussie Open is Andy Murray (4:1). He has the skillset to compete with any of the top players from Roddick to Del Potro to Federer. Novak Djokovic, Andy Roddick, and Del Potro have all gotten their break through major victory at...

If you have no idea what to be for Halloween and you want a quick fix, here are ten ridiculously easy sports costumes relevant to 09 that you can get done in minutes. 10. Richard Gasquet - Walk around in white shorts, a white polo, a tennis racket, and powder powder rubbed all on your face and your tongue and tell people you ingest coke stictly by making out with females. 9. Mark McGwire Hitting Coach - Get yourself some baseball pants, a Cardinals jacket, and walk around with syringes, pills and cremes letting people know that you have the quick fix to curing the Cardinals home run issues. 8. Manny in the Shower - Get a dreadlocked wig, and a white towel and walk around asking people how well Broxton pitched in the 9th. 7. Kenny Powers / Mitch Williams - A Mullett wig, a pair of old beat up jeans, and a jersey of some minor league team that no one cares about. Than just make sure you say fuck at least once every sentence. The Powers is pulled off much better if you are fat. 6. ...

Who Do I Cheer For?

Tonight will mark the first time in my life I will ever been in attendance for a professional tennis tournament. Having lived my entire life 20 minutes from New Haven site of the Pilot Pen tournament and a little more than an hour away from the US Open, it's kind of surprising that I have never gone, but I guess tonight is better late than never. So what is in store for me the first night I ever attend a tennis match? Amelie Mauresmo vs. Svetlana Kuznetsova, two of the um... not so attractive women on the WTA. Usually my motto for Women's tennis is root for the player who is the most attractive but right now I'm befuddled. In one corner there is the Russian Kuznetsova who likely has bigger arms and legs than me and in the other there is French Lesbian Amelie Mauresmo who certainly has a more chiseled face than me. I honestly have no idea who to pull for. I just hope there isn't a lot of grunting. Why couldn't I have gotten Bondarenko ?

How History Would Paint Roddick If Federer Didn't Exist

The way a tennis player will be remembered in the fabrics of history is defined by a single numeric, total majors won. People will quickly forget your close calls, how many times you managed to make it to the semifinals or quarterfinals of a major, and point directly to the number 1. They will certainly ignore the lesser tournament victories like defeating Dudi Sela to take home the Beijing Open. The number 1 is what currently defines Andy Roddick's legacy. All the talent in the world, all the hope of US Tennis thrust upon his shoulders, and all he could manage was 1 major. But perhaps that's not how Andy Roddick's legacy should hold up. Perhaps Andy Roddick is closer to Pete Sampras than he is a player who never won a major. Perhaps the lone thing that's stopped Andy Roddick from ascending into the stratosphere of American tennis is one man, Roger Federer. In 2003, the year Roddick shot up to the #1 player in the world, it came off the strength of his lone Major Champi...

The Wimbledon Finals Surely Did Not Disappoint

When Rafael Nadal proclaimed two weeks ago that he was not going to be healthy enough to defend his crown, the wind was severely taken out of Wimbledon's sails. No longer could Wimbledon offer the amazing 5-set final between Nadal and Federer. No longer would Federer need to get over the Nadal hurdle to win his record 15th major. Everything seemed to line up towards Federer destroying the entire field and cruising towards another title in London. The last thing we could have expected was Andy Roddick to return with a vengeance. For the 03 & 04 finalist to reemerge as one of the best grass court players in the game. And even further, the last thing anyone could have expected was for Roddick to battle for so long and so evenly with Federer, a man who has dominated him to endless ends during his career . But there he stood for nearly 4 hours without losing a serve. There he stood tied tied at two sets a piece, where he not Federer had an opportunity in each of the 4 sets. For all ...

Federer's Win Seems a Bit Hollow

For years now the one thing missing on Roger Federer's resume has been the French Open title. As he chased down Pete Sampras record of 14 Grand Slam titles and the quest to be declared the greatest player of all time, it was the French Open title that was meant to be the clincher. Prior to yesterday it was a title squashed repeatedly by Rafael Nadal. Then in consecutive sundays Federer gave a big thank you to a random Swedish player you likely never heard of before. I've been one of those advocates for Federer as the greatest player of all time and always thought the clincher would be when he won the French. But I also always thought that the clincher would require him defeating his greatest nemesis, that no way would he be able to win the French without overcoming the Capri Pantsed wonder. Yet it wasn't to be, Robin Soderling opened up the French Open for Federer and Federer capatilized. I'm just left with the lingering feeling that it's not nearly as special as ...

Mr. Del Potro, Your Shirt Looks Ridiculous

I don't know what the most ridiculous part about this shirt is. The horizontal stripes mixture of colors or the fact the stripes are only on the front of the shirt.

Federer's Great Opening

Rafael Nadal's success at Roland Garros has been unprecedented. To say that his matches were a foregone conclusion would be a massive understatement. He'd never even played a 5-set match at the French Open. He was unbeatable, you could start etching his name on the trophy before a single ball was served on the red clay of Philippe Chatrier. Everyone knew this, especially Roger Federer. The French Open is the one tournament standing between Federer and the throne of best player of all time. And it was Nadal his main nemesis that ruled the tournament with an iron fist. Without Nadal, Federer may have cruised to three straight Clay Court Major Championships, but alas Nadal stood in the way issuing Federer a beatdown each year more severe than the prior. Even defeating Nadal a few weeks back at a the finals of another clay court tournament would not be enough to boost the confidence of Federer. Clay is Nadal's domain, and Nadal is Federer's master. And then Robin Soderl...

The Disparity of Suspension Lengths

Last week as we all know Manny Ramirez tested positive for a banned substance on the MLB drug list. The substance was deemed to be a testosterone booster which could easily be linked back to a performance enhancer as it would most commonly be used by a male coming off a cycle. For this clear breaking of MLB policy, Manny Ramirez has been suspended for 50 games or roughly 1/3 of the season. The man in the image to the right is Richard Gasquet. He's a french tennis player who recently tested positive for Cocaine use . Gasquet is appealing these charges and states that he's an innocent man. If the appeal fails Gasquet could be suspended from the tour for 2 YEARS . 2 full years. See the discrepency there? I'm far from advocating Cocaine use, but we can certainly categorize it as a drug not used as a performance enhancer, correct? I doubt Gasquet was in the locker room blowing lines before his match at the Australian Open. Yet, his positive test could cost him 2 years of ...
