Before we get into some thoughts surrounding Pete Carroll's move to the NFL let's take a look a few of his quotes surrounding the move. "Not in any way," Carroll told the newspaper. The idea that the investigation on USC which could force them to lose scholarships, forfeit victories, and make USC bowl ineligible had absolutely no influence on his decision to leave USC is laughable. Of course it had an influence, so to did the likely pay increase and so did whatever his desire was to prove himself on the NFL stage.

Today the University of South Florida fired coach Jim Leavitt due to his alleged choking incident. This comes just a little over a week after the firing of Mike Leach due to closet gate. So now I have a simple question, which job is better? All in all we're giving a mild edge to Texas Tech as its more possible that they become the #2 destination for instate recruits than does USF. The Scalabrine Watch grew a bit too much and too boring to handle over its two seasons of existence so I decided to scrap it as a weekly column and focus on other things. But since there's a bit of dead air here I figure why not take a look at Scals season thus far. And well, he just might be having the WORST season of his career. I know you are baffled. How could a man do worse than a season with 1.8 points per game, 1.7 rebounds per game while shooting just over 30% from the field. Well Scals makes it possible. Here's his season line thus far. Games Played: 26, Minutes Per Game: 9:41, FG%: 30.6, 3PT FG%: 23.8, FT%: 75.0, Rebounds: 0.7, Pts: 1.2 In around 10 minutes of burn per game, Scalabrine is averaging less than 1 rebound and barely over 1 point while shooting dreadful percentages from basically everywhere except the free throw line and that doesn't really even count because he's taken just 4 free throws. So I guess its time to predict the playoffs and if this seasons picks are any indication of success than the Packers and Chargers a fucked. I mean I already picked the Giants to win the Superbowl and that obviously didn't work well. Wildcard Round I can of summed everything up yesterday with my breakdowns but I'm going Jets, Pats, Cowboys and Packers. I think Brady will find a way to get out of the first round. I think the Bengals are in a free fall and won't be able to do anything offensively. I think the Cowboys for whatever reason have the Eagles number this year and finally I just think the Packers are an all around better team than the Cardinals. Divisional Round I'm going Colts, Chargers, Vikings and Packers. The Jets don't have the weapons to keep up with the Colts offensively.
