Over the next week and a half I'll be charting out the progressions of some of the Super Bowl Records. Why? Because we all want to learn.
The record for receiving touchdowns in a Super Bowl was set in Super Bowl I at 2 by Max McGee. This record was matched 6 times in the 23 years it stood. The players who matched the record are Bill Miller (II), John Stallworth (XIII), Cliff Branch (XV), Dan Ross (XVI), Roger Craig (XIX), and Ricky Sanders (XXII). Finally in Super Bowl XXIV Jerry Rice took the record when he scored 3 touchdowns against the Broncos. Five years later Rice matched his record by once again scored 3 touchdowns in another demolition, this time against the Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX.
