Final 4 Quick Notes

UCLA vs. Florida

~Those foul calls on Aaron Afflalo pretty much ensured that UCLA was going to go into half time with a big deficit. And when he came back he had no spark. He's one of those streaky players where if he's hot he can hit everything, and when he's cold he isn't making crap. Well sitting down the last 10 minutes of the first half ensured the ice.

~UCLA is terrible to watch and was completely overmatched against the Gators. They had a chance to open the game with a lead since the Gators decided to only jack up three the first 10 minutes of the game and didn't score at all, yet UCLA can't run any kind of offense. Kansas would have given the Gators a much better game but since Bill Self is a terrible coach he got his jock handed to him by Howland.

~That being said when UCLA gets a few McD's all american studs they are going to be ridiculously good. Howland has that team playing great defense, it's just their offense blows. If they ever got a kid like Durant, someone who can carry an offense by himself, they would be almost unstoppable. If UCLA doesn't win a National Title in the next 5 years I would be very surprised.

~After Florida went on its big run in the 1st half there was not a moment when I think anybody in the bar thought UCLA had a chance.

G-Town vs. Ohio St.

~Went to a local bar to watch this game and missed the first segment before the first TV timeout. Thus I missed every second Oden played in the first half. Can we please just calm down with the whistles for one moment.

~Hibbert was terrific. And the biggest play of the entire game was when he got whistled for his 4th foul, which easily could have not been called. A little hold at the top of the key, calm down. Once he got taken out, nobody could cover Oden and the Hoyas offense sputtered. If I'm a team looking for a big man in the NBA I'm snatching up Hibbert. I'd equate him to being a Zydrunas Ilgauskas, in his prime. Tall enough to dominate when healthy and when covered by someone smaller. A good passer and a little more finesse than physical. He will be good in the NBA and will make a few all-star games.

~Why did Jonathon Wallace not shoot more threes? Did he miss any?

~Mike Conley Jr. should stay in school for one more year and come out and get drafted by the Celtics after the C's get Oden this year. He is going to be a fantastic pt guard in the NBA. He just has that it factor, not afraid at any moment of the game. And it would be a shame if he and Oden didn't play on the same team in the NBA. Stern make this happen.

Championship Game Keys

~Oden needs to be in this game for a long time. Which means he needs to not grab two fouls in the first 3 minutes. I don't trust Terwilliger or Hunter to cover Noah and especially Horford.

~Florida bombing threes is a big time key. If Humphrey, Green and Brewer are knocking them down the Buckeyes will struggle because they most likely will need to double down on whatever big Oden is not covering.

~Give the ball to Oden in the paint early and perhaps you can get Noah or Horford in foul trouble. It won't hurt the Gators as much as Oden out, cause Richards is good, but if Horford or Noah are not in the game it lessens the likelihood that Oden picks up dumb fouls

~The Buckeyes need to get off to a strong start. If the Gators start hot and get a big lead early I think they will roll.

~Billy Donovan isn't going anywhere. This talk is dumb.

My Pick: Ohio St., I picked them to win preseason, I picked them to win in my bracket, I'm sticking with 'em. Buckeyes get revenge from football.

Lou Holtz is the Homer / Annoyingly Delusional

As my buddy Joe and I always joke, if Notre Dame was suiting up against an all Jesus team, aka a team made up of 55 Sons of God, Lou Holtz would probably still pick Notre Dame to win by a touchdown. So of course this weekend when I'm watching Sportscenter and they have him and fellow old man Corso making predictions, Lou picks ND to beat Michigan. Not that big of a deal, Michigan is a big question mark this year, but of course than Lou says that Notre Dame will win 11 games this year. This is the same Notre Dame that lost to a service academy last year. And just when you thought the douchy homerism was going to end ESPN asks which BCS school is going to be the biggest surprise team in the country. Any guesses to whom it was? I'll give you a clue it was another team he coached. If you guessed South Carolina you would be a winner. Next up on Lou's prediction watch, the Jets win the Superbowl, NC St. wins the ACC, Arkansas dominates the SEC West, Minnesota wins the Big

Ranking the New York Jets Historical Helmets

There's no way you can't go with the Helmet they won the Super Bowl in. You just can't. Next, I really don't understand why they don't where the helmet with the Jet as their throwback uniforms. That helmet is awesome. Then I'm going with the Helmets from the 80s because it's the classic feel and the white face mask is 10 times better than the black one. And the rankings continue until you get to... The Titans Helmet. I hate everything about those Titan uniforms. The Helmets are boring and the colors are GOD awful. Navy blue and Mustard? What the hell is that. Disgusting. If they wore those unis when I was a kid I'd probably be a Giant fan, and be much happier with my life in football.
