Atleast He Cares That He Sucks

So the 50+ million dollars that the Yankees shelled out to Kei Igawa thus far has equaled one good ~~start~~ relief appearance against the Red Sox and a lot of whiplash for Igawa himself after each time he needs to snap his neck around to watch the balls fly over the wall. Well yesterday after another Shiiiitttteeeee performance Igawa mauled his locker with a baseball bat. And will be forced use some of his undeserving 20 million dollars to pay for it.

I for one am a little pleased by the beating of the locker as atleast it is apparent now that the guy has some set of emotions and isn't just a human beaver. Here's hoping that he does not take the next step and commit sepuku or...

Eh, it was even one good start against the Red Sox, it was a reflief appearance. Maybe Joe just needs to trick him and not tell him he is starting until a the game is about to begin.

So, pitching in the real big leagues is a little huh Kei? Even the "aces" of Japan are getting knocked around. Matazuka is decent, but won't win a Cy Young any time soon. Good hitters, mediocre pitchers - George we have great young arms here in the USA (see your farm system). Please spend the money here.

Guest Post: Thoughts on Sabathia Signing

I asked Grutt what his thoughts were on the Sabathia signing and I thought his response pretty much nailed it. So here it is. I don’t know. Every year I get a little more disenchanted with baseball. Yea, it’s great we signed the top pitching free agent. But we were supposed to. No team was even in the ballpark of the Yankees offer yet they still needed to jump from the already ridiculous price of $140 million to $160 million to close the deal. Now I hear we are going to sign more pitchers who will also get large contracts and the position player gaps are still glaring. Each new, large contract just adds to the feeling that the Yanks are supposed to win it all. “I think we have a good chance this year.” That is a lost feeling. If they don’t win I’ll wonder why, like there has to be some other reason besides that it’s a sport you can never predict how things will work out and some years just aren’t yours to be won.
