Let Us Begin the Michael Vick To Minnesota Rumors

Now that we can be done with the Brett Favre rumors to Minnesota*, it's time to start floating around the Michael Vick to Minnesota rumors. I mean why not, the Vikings obviously want a quarterback with a better pedigree than Sage Rosenfels or Tarvaris Jackson and Vick delivers this.

To me Minnesota now becomes the most logical fit. A team in contention that was willing to take on a new quarterback with risk all of season. They are in a smallish market so the backlash might be less. And most importantly he would make a difference on the team.

Just picture this for a second. In his prime Vick led the most dominating rushing attack in football. This came with miniature Warrick Dunn and Jerious Norwood. Now imagine Vick in the same backfield as Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor. This is what the Vikings were looking to get from Tarvaris when they drafted him as a poor man's Vick, but he hasn't even come close to living up to the hype.

Its time to start the Minnesota Vickings rumor mill.

*We probably can't be done with the rumors because it's Brett Favre, he doesn't want to retire, the rumors will go on and on my friend, cause it's the story that doesn't end...

Vick would not work in Minnesota. The fans and the powers that be hate any black players with issues on his resume and are quick to call for their heads. The fans dogged all of the following guys linked to football: Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham, Randy Moss, Dante Culpepper, Tavaris Jackson and Denny Green. They did love Cris Carter but not in public. And T. Jackson hasn't been given a fair shot to play QB on this team. How can you give a guy a job then take him out after only 2 games that were not his fault? Give the guy a shot and maybe he'll surprise everyone...how many QB's have had 4 TD games...not many.

I see New Orleans in Vick's future. That's a city where anything goes, so a little thing like dog fighting is not likely to raise eyebrows like it would in many other parts of the country. On top of that, Reggie Bush is gimpy, so Vick would work well as a doppelganger there.

Cheers!

Lou Holtz is the Homer / Annoyingly Delusional

As my buddy Joe and I always joke, if Notre Dame was suiting up against an all Jesus team, aka a team made up of 55 Sons of God, Lou Holtz would probably still pick Notre Dame to win by a touchdown. So of course this weekend when I'm watching Sportscenter and they have him and fellow old man Corso making predictions, Lou picks ND to beat Michigan. Not that big of a deal, Michigan is a big question mark this year, but of course than Lou says that Notre Dame will win 11 games this year. This is the same Notre Dame that lost to a service academy last year. And just when you thought the douchy homerism was going to end ESPN asks which BCS school is going to be the biggest surprise team in the country. Any guesses to whom it was? I'll give you a clue it was another team he coached. If you guessed South Carolina you would be a winner. Next up on Lou's prediction watch, the Jets win the Superbowl, NC St. wins the ACC, Arkansas dominates the SEC West, Minnesota wins the Big...

Guest Post: Thoughts on Sabathia Signing

I asked Grutt what his thoughts were on the Sabathia signing and I thought his response pretty much nailed it. So here it is. I don’t know. Every year I get a little more disenchanted with baseball. Yea, it’s great we signed the top pitching free agent. But we were supposed to. No team was even in the ballpark of the Yankees offer yet they still needed to jump from the already ridiculous price of $140 million to $160 million to close the deal. Now I hear we are going to sign more pitchers who will also get large contracts and the position player gaps are still glaring. Each new, large contract just adds to the feeling that the Yanks are supposed to win it all. “I think we have a good chance this year.” That is a lost feeling. If they don’t win I’ll wonder why, like there has to be some other reason besides that it’s a sport you can never predict how things will work out and some years just aren’t yours to be won. If they win I will be pleasantly smug. It gets a little more...
