Eli Manning Is About to Become the Highest Paid QB in the NFL

I think the title of this post deserves a "Huh? Are you serious? Did you mean Peyton? You meant Peyton right?" Nope, Eli Manning is on the verge of signing a 6 year 97.5 million dollar extension with the Giants, to make him the highest paid player in the history of the sport. Take it away Mr. Glazer.

"The deal will make the 28-year-old the highest-paid player in the history of the Giants organization as well as the highest-paid quarterback (per year) in NFL history, a figure Giants fans would probably not argue with." Jay Glazer

Now I completely understand the Giants wanting to lock up Manning for a long time. He's a solid leader, he's won a super bowl, and he's become beloved in the city. But highest paid player ever? Really? You can't think he actually deserves that right?

This is the same guy that has never put up sparkling numbers right? The same guy that the entire city of New York was ready to behead at the beginning of 2007? The same guy who watched his Giants get crunched in playoffs by the Eagles?

Yes, he is the same guy that knocked off the unbeatable Patriots. But please someone give me a logical reason why Eli Manning of all NFL Players deserves to be the highest paid. I don't get it.

With that being said, I'm sure the next QB to sign (like a Cheeseburger, Brady or Big Bro), will blow Eli's contract away.

Guest Post: Thoughts on Sabathia Signing

I asked Grutt what his thoughts were on the Sabathia signing and I thought his response pretty much nailed it. So here it is. I don’t know. Every year I get a little more disenchanted with baseball. Yea, it’s great we signed the top pitching free agent. But we were supposed to. No team was even in the ballpark of the Yankees offer yet they still needed to jump from the already ridiculous price of $140 million to $160 million to close the deal. Now I hear we are going to sign more pitchers who will also get large contracts and the position player gaps are still glaring. Each new, large contract just adds to the feeling that the Yanks are supposed to win it all. “I think we have a good chance this year.” That is a lost feeling. If they don’t win I’ll wonder why, like there has to be some other reason besides that it’s a sport you can never predict how things will work out and some years just aren’t yours to be won.
