TCU vs. Texas

Not many people are actually going to dive into the merits of schedules TCU and Texas to determine whom should be ranked higher. The vast majority of voters are going to pull their standard, let's just rank them where they are or Texas is Texas and TCU is TCU. But I'm not that person, so let's break down win by win to determine whose season is better.

Best Win: At Clemson, At Oklahoma State
Clemson since the TCU loss has turned around their season and are a game away from going to the ACC Championship game. Oklahoma State is 8-2 after a win over Texas Tech but they still were without Dez Bryant, by far their best player. The mild edge for now goes to Texas but not by much.
Advantage: Texas

2nd Win: at BYU, vs. Oklahoma (n)
BYU beat Oklahoma on a neutral field without Bradford. Texas did the same thing. BYU proved it could play and beat Oklahoma thus the drubbing TCU gave BYU is a better win than Texas over Oklahoma.
Advantage: TCU

3rd Win: vs. Utah, vs. Texas Tech
Utah has lost 3 teams in basically 3 years. TCU embarrassed them sunday. Texas Tech has lost 4 times this year. Neither is the team they were last season but mild edge goes to Utah since their two losses this season are to Oregon and TCU not Houston and A&M.
Advantage: TCU

4th win: at Air Force, at Missouri
Ya not much of a military academy believer. Sorry, I respect the fact they won 7 games, but they aren't as good as Mizzou.
Advantage: Texas

5th win: at UVA, vs. UCF
UVA looked like the might be ok when they won 3 in a row, but since the Al Groh ship has sunk. Meanwhile UCF just picked up a huge win in Texas's favor this weekend knocking off Houston.
Advantage: Texas

The bottom line is the Big 12 is deeper than the MWC and despite the fact that Texas had a mediocre at best OOC, they still have more quality opponents than TCU. They still have the Big 12 title game to tack on another while TCU has nothing left. I'm sorry TCU. I wanted to put you ahead of Texas. I just can't.

Now onto the preliminary blogpoll.

Numbers On Steroids: Bret Boone

Numbers on Steroids is a look at baseball players during the 90s to see if anything screams out at you. Mr. Boone was once the best power hitting second baseman in the league. How questionable was his success? Averages Say: Why the extra plateu in his mid 30s? At Bats Per Home Run Says: Lowest at Bats Per Home Runs at 37? Hmm.... Explaining It Away Yeak, this one is tough. Umm, late bloomer? He showed potential power early in his career and he just liked playing in Seattle a lot more than everywhere else? And umm, his career was kind of like a running backs in that it just all of a sudden fell off the map? Any of these convincing you? The Verdict Guy never hits more than 24 home runs in a season and then in his age 32 season he hits 37? And in SafeCo a pitchers park to boot? And he follows that up with 24, 35, 24 homer years still at SafeCo? And then he completely falls off the map in 2005 never to be heard from again? We've got a Screamer... Man Get Big Muscles In 30s. Hm...
