For it being week 1 of the college football season, it doesn't seem like it will take us too long to get immersed. With a stellar matchup on thursday and saturday nights, I'm going to be fully amped up.
5. Miami Hurricanes at Florida State Seminoles
The classic Hurricane vs. Seminole game to kickoff the football season. Sure they still aren't back to their dominance of previous decades but both the Canes and Noles have a chance to challenge for their respective ACC divisions this year. If they truly want to challenge the Hokies of the world than winning week one is imperative. The Pick: Seminoles by 6
4. Brigham Young Cougars vs. Oklahoma Sooners in Arlington
I guess Jerrah Jones just wants to flaunt his stadium, because there's really no other reason for BYU and Oklahoma to be playing in Texas. It's nice that the Sooners have a little more gusto than the Gators and Longhorns in week one and play a mid-major team who has a chance to win their conference, but I'm still guessing they put the slaughter boots on. The Pick: Sooners by 17
3. Georgia Bulldogs at Oklahoma State Cowboys
There should be way more games like this in college football. Two teams that are in BCS conferences, that are expended to be in contention or on the second-tier, who battle and give us a true idea of which conference is superior. The winner of this game gives their conference and their conference's National Title hopefuls a massive talking point. Onto the game I'm going with the Boys for two reasons, there's probably a learning curve in their for the Bulldogs offense with a new QB and RB and because 'In Dez We Trust'. The Pick: Cowboys by 3
2. Oregon Ducks vs. Boise St. Broncos
I'm bullish on the Ducks, entirely because of their dominance in the Holiday bowl. It won't take long for my bull to go boom or bust as their visit to the Smurf turf could give their resume a massive starting or stumbling block. No reason for my bullishness to go away before the game so... The Pick: Ducks by 4.
1. Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Virginia Tech Hokies in Atlanta
In an ideal world, wouldn't we get a matchup of potential national title contenders in week 1 every year? Thankfully we get it this year with the VT and Bama who both have title aspirations. The game will be a defenses with the two teams sporting amongst the best Ds in the country. Much like the Okie St. vs. UGA game we're leaning towards the team with the experienced QB to find a way to put points on the board. So we're going... The Pick: Hokies by 3.
