I keep on hearing people like Steve 'Moron' Phillips question Joe Girardi's decision to bring CC Sabathia back on three days rest as if its something that's never been done before. This just in, its been done a lot before, like take for example Bob Gibson:
Bob Gibson pitched 6 of his 9 playoff games on 3 days rest and one playoff game on 2 days rest. The only two games in which Bob Gibson had "full" rest by todays standards were the series openers in 67 and 68. Bob Gibson was pretty damn good in the majority of those starts.
CC Sabathia is a beast. He's 6-7 and 300 pounds. The man can pitch on 3 days rest. His arm will be fine. The reason people don't pitch 3 days rest now is depth of starting pitching and a concern for injury risk, not because they can't. CC can, and he'll be fine tonight and fine in game 7 if necessary.
