Breakin it Down: Titans vs. Chargers

Breakin it down is 5 key stories plus a pick for each postseason game this season.

Time to Become a Legend

LDT is a great player and will finish with stats comparable to the best running backs in the history of the NFL but in order to become an absolute legend in the NFL you need championships. It starts this weekend in a matchup against the Titans which LDT should dominate. He dominated them in the Chargers come back win and he should do so again this weekend.

Fillin Philip's Big Mouth

Philip Rivers is beginning to become one of the loudest trash talkers in the NFL. He's got a lot of fight in him and isn't afraid to let the opponent know so. The Titans most likely wouldn't mind hitting him hard, early and often to give him some of his own trash talking medicine.

48 Stolen Possessions

Turnover differential has been a major discrepancy between the Division Winners and their Wildcard counterparts, but in no case is it bigger than in this game. The Chargers led the NFL in Takeaways by a wide margin (48 to 37) and had the leagues best differential at +24. The Titans meanwhile forced a lot of turnovers themselves (34) but fully countered that with an equal amount of giveaways.

Young Buck or The Elder Drunk

Over the past few days there have been many people coming out saying that the Titans are a better off with Kerry Collins running the show instead of Vince Young, even if he is healthy. Perhaps they missed who Kerry Collins was. A turnover prone quarterback with a big arm and a tendency to make terrible decisions. Meanwhile Vince Young wins football games. But hey if you want to pass the ball and feed the ball to the Chargers Kerry is your man.

Norv Still At the Wheel

2 months ago everyone, including yours truly, was killing Norv Turner for sinking the Chargers ship. Granted he didn't steer it back to a 14-2 record but he does have them playing well at the tail end of the season and if he could put together a run over the next few weeks he could make everyone eat their words.... Doubtful.

The Pick

I shouldn't be this confident given Norv Turner is still the head coach of the Chargers and was the man who douched away my Suicide Pick. However amongst all the games this weekend I have the most confidence in the Chargers knocking off the Titans at home.

Lou Holtz is the Homer / Annoyingly Delusional

As my buddy Joe and I always joke, if Notre Dame was suiting up against an all Jesus team, aka a team made up of 55 Sons of God, Lou Holtz would probably still pick Notre Dame to win by a touchdown. So of course this weekend when I'm watching Sportscenter and they have him and fellow old man Corso making predictions, Lou picks ND to beat Michigan. Not that big of a deal, Michigan is a big question mark this year, but of course than Lou says that Notre Dame will win 11 games this year. This is the same Notre Dame that lost to a service academy last year. And just when you thought the douchy homerism was going to end ESPN asks which BCS school is going to be the biggest surprise team in the country. Any guesses to whom it was? I'll give you a clue it was another team he coached. If you guessed South Carolina you would be a winner. Next up on Lou's prediction watch, the Jets win the Superbowl, NC St. wins the ACC, Arkansas dominates the SEC West, Minnesota wins the Big...

Guest Post: Thoughts on Sabathia Signing

I asked Grutt what his thoughts were on the Sabathia signing and I thought his response pretty much nailed it. So here it is. I don’t know. Every year I get a little more disenchanted with baseball. Yea, it’s great we signed the top pitching free agent. But we were supposed to. No team was even in the ballpark of the Yankees offer yet they still needed to jump from the already ridiculous price of $140 million to $160 million to close the deal. Now I hear we are going to sign more pitchers who will also get large contracts and the position player gaps are still glaring. Each new, large contract just adds to the feeling that the Yanks are supposed to win it all. “I think we have a good chance this year.” That is a lost feeling. If they don’t win I’ll wonder why, like there has to be some other reason besides that it’s a sport you can never predict how things will work out and some years just aren’t yours to be won. If they win I will be pleasantly smug. It gets a little more...
